I decided to redraw one of my old characters from a fantasy story I'll most likely never get around to working on. The idea was to go against the grain and make an archer who wasn't slim or graceful. I also gave the character bug eyes which seemed cool at the time, although friend of mine pointed out how much bug eyes dont make sense to a character who has to focus on a target…thats the great thing about fantasy though u don't have to explain everything..

…Howdy all for my 1 post I decided to post some concept work from STAR-ANGEL (for those unfamiliar star angel is a super hero series being developed by P. Chaz and me)…For this particular character I had to come up with an automaton so 1st thing I tried to do was make the character thin and skeletal so when showing feats of robot strength it it would come off as visually impressive…however after thinking more about the name (Tinker-Boy) I decided to add elements that were childlike in size and design wise…as you can see from the sketches below its still a work in progress..

On Monday, I decided to spend my lunch down on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. I took some pictures behind the Philadelphia Art Museum, it’s a very beautiful place. This first shot is from on top of the steps of the museum.

So I thought I start off with a few sites I like to check out frequently while online. Here are just few:
This is a great site to observe many styles of animation and get great pratice with lip sync.Every month a short vocal clip is added. You get one month to get it done.Every month one 10 second short is becomes the winner.I learned a lot from this site, and plan on finally adding my own 10 second shorts there eventually…………..:)
THE site for everything 3d, from modeling lighting animation, anything you can think of. Can't recomend it enough.

Draw a pciture, get it recorded, and judge on not only style but technique.Interesting stuff.
Well, that's it for now.Later on I'll add some work of my own

Lets talk about this guy…
Word on the street is, he went to an art highschool in Manhattan before he began working for marvel at age 16. The most popular of his earliest published works was a deadpool miniseries in 1994. That came out as sort of a more animated Arthur Adams clone, but it looked cool and earned him the right to work on X-Men, which at the time, needed a breath of fresh air and a drop of new blood. Early on his x-men run, "Mad!" began to incorporate more anime influence in his art. That type of thing had been gaining momentum, so he became even more popular. In 1997, Joe left X-men to begin a creator-owned comic series called Battlechasers. "BC" was supposed to be an energy-charged Dungeons & Dragons romp with a superhero/magnificent7 feel. This is where Mad! gained most of his fan following. Battlechasers was visually head & shoulders above anything else being published. Wildstorm splurged for the best Colorists, Letterers, and Inker available at the time, and Joe spent time with each individual to make sure that the work came out as spetacularly as he could imagine it. Unfortunatly the work began to take longer and longer, the inker suffered an early retirement, the writer left over what i imagine were creative differences, and the lure to work on Video Game art pulled Joe away from BC. Next was an independant venture as lead art director for a game that never came out (Dragonkinde)…and then, a few more games that never came out (Exarch, Dungeon Runner). This is depressing… His artwork is amazing and you can look for new stuff in the fall with Ultimates3! Check out loads of art at http://www.joemadfan.com
